Computers & Cameras

Computer technology and camera technology are beginning a symbiotic relationship the end to which we can only imagine. Although involved with computers and an amateur photographer all of my life, the advent of digital photography melded with the digital computer has become a recent interest. On this page I hope to share articles, photos, and interesting web sites relating to both subjects.

Prevent Invasion of Privacy

I think this is important...

Yahoo is now using something called "Web Beacons" to track Yahoo Group users around the net and see what you're doing and where you are going similar to cookies. They are recording every website and every group you visit.

Take a look at their updated privacy statement:
http://privacy. yahoo.com/ privacy

About half-way down the page, in the section on cookies, you will see a link that says web beacons. Click on the web beacons link which brings you to another page. Find the paragraph
entitled "Outside the Yahoo Network."In this section you'll see the link "click here to opt out" . This allows you to "opt-out" of their new method of snooping.

Notice the "Success" message on the top of the next page.

Be careful because on that page there is a "Cancel Opt-out" button that, if clicked, will *undo** the opt-out.

DIGITAL CAMERA SITES

There are tens of thousands of web sites detailing with digital cameras. Here are a few I have found to be regularly updated and very useful:

A monthly magazine - MEGAPIXEL.NET

Camera reviews, comparisons - Steve's Digicams

On-line Digicam Short Courses - Dennis Curtin

An index of photo masters AND their photos - Photo Masters

A guide to On-line Photo Album Sites - Photo Albums
